I would like to know if there is anything that can be done to reduce the interest on my student loans. I had to drop out of college in 1991 and also filed
bankruptsey. I never heard anything about the loans until several years later. The original amount I owed was $5,200. When I was notified about the loans, I
was told I then owed $12,000. I have been paying as much as I possibly can, when I can, but I just wish I didn't have to pay all that interest. Thank you

You might contact the lender in writing and offer a lump sum settlement. Since most of the amount is interest and penalties they might settle with you. Be
prepared to have to pay the settlement is a lump sum.
